In November 1948, Scott McDaniel and his wife Maxine loaded up their tiny car and headed north from California. Their goal: to spend one year for Scott to see and try to capture through his art, the majestic beauty of Alaska; to experience the country he had fought and nearly died for during World  War II.

The great north captured his heart and that year turned into 64. During that time he and his beloved wife raised five children while he honed his talent ultimately creating hundreds of paintings that earned him dozens of awards, accolades and lucrative contracts. He died in Anchorage on December 17, 2012. He was 86. 
 

 

To share the gift of his talent with others, his family and Anchorage Public Libraries featured a display of his work at the Z.J. Loussac Library, 3600 Denali Street, for the month of June 2013.
 

A special reception to celebrate his life and launch the show was held in the

Ann Stevens Room

Thursday, May 30th, 2013 
 

Hosted by his family along with gallery and art curators and representatives from the Alaskan Art Guild.
